The summer of 2022 is a real scorcher here in Los Angeles. Temperatures hit the 100s since late mid-August until the early days of September. To counter the heat, it is a great time to grab a refreshing smoothie at your favorite chain location. Here are a few favorites of mine.

Robeks – Tropi-Kale

Ingredients: Fresh kale, pineapple, pineapple sherbet, non-fat frozen yogurt, papaya juice

Calories: 340 (Medium)

This smoothie qualifies as one that is refreshing and not excessively sweet. After all, what bad thing can you say about kale?

Jamba – Aloha Pineapple

Ingredients: Pineapple juice, pineapple sherbet, strawberries, bananas, non-fat Greek yogurt

Calories: 360 (Medium)

You might be sensing a pattern here. Pineapple is the ingredient that makes smoothie summer-like. For a different pineapple smoothie, you can still get the classic PiƱa Colada smoothie off their secret menu.

Erewhon – Pitaya Smoothie

Ingredients: Apple juice, pitaya, banana, pineapple, lemon juice

We are definitely taking it up a notch when putting Erewhon into the mix. Pitaya, aka dragonfruit, is naturally juicy and refreshing. Its bright color is a very fitting addition to the summer palette.
